Introduction to wine

An engaging and unpretentious introduction to common wine styles found in the market from an everyday consumer perspective. We cover basic wine appreciation techniques to help build confidence and show you how to taste wine like a pro. We explain the benefits of decanting of wine and explore typical wine styles like sparkling, white and red wine, looking at a number of varieties such as Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz etc.

This introductory masterclass helps unlock the mysterious side to wine and concludes with a fun team building "wine option? game which creates an opportunity for decision making and uncovers the competitive streak in many.

Intermediate Wine Exploration

So you have mastered the basics and now want to discover the difference between Old World (European) wine styles and relate them back to more familiar New World (Australian, N.Z., S.A., USA, Chilean and Argentinian) wines.
This informative session digs deeper into the traditions and historical events which shaped our wines forever. We delve into modern technologies and evaluate how they have changed the appearance, structure and longevity of wine explaining the cork v?s screwcap debate. The general content of this class implies you have an average wine knowledge, a high level of interest or enthusiasm and contain a healthy thirst for knowledge and new discoveries on the horizon.

A blind tasting and "wine option? opportunity will stimulate conversation and reveal competitive natures with the opportunity to win a private tasting for yourself and 10 friends.

In this masterclass it is the pleasure we wish to focus on and in doing so we reveal exceptional wines from some of the most highly regarded regions of the world.

We look at Champagne and why it's the epitome of luxury and success, demonstrating with a tasting of a Grand marque and a super fine vintage Champagne.

Delve into the wonders of seduction behind Burgundy (Red and White) and its many questions on labelling, vinification and classification.

Learn about the longevity of Piemonte Nebbiolo by enjoying a current vintage and a museum release 10 years its senior.

Explore bold Australian Shiraz versus elegant Hermitage Syrah. France is the spiritual home of the grape variety that has put Australian red wine on the map.

Understand why the 1855 Bordeaux classification has shaped the way the world views Cabernet Sauvignon, the red grape variety which commands respect for its wonderful longevity, density of black fruit and incredible structure. We pair a Super 2nd Growth alongside a 5th Growth for a fitting conclusion to a masterclass of epic proportions.
